Gazette du Bon Ton-Double
Gazette du Bon Ton was the most famous of the fashion magazines begun in Paris in 1912 (the other two being Modes et Manieres d'Aujourd 'hui and the Journal des Dames et des Modes) It was also the longest running, beginning in 1912 with a break for the war in 1915 and resuming from 1920 through 1925. From the beginning, the publisher, Lucien Vogel, was able to enlist the most successful couturiers and the finest illustrators working in Paris. The influence of Georges Lepape, one of the original contributing illustrators, was decisive in determining its style. Rather than merely showing the outfit, the model is shown in dramatic or narrative situations, thus bringing them to life. These charming plates, colored by pochoir are highly decorative. Size (in): 9.75 x 15
