The Breeds of the Domestic Animals of the British Islands by David Low. These hand colored lithographs were produced by Dr. David Low, professor of Agriculture at Edinburgh University in 1842. They were intended as a reference on selective breeding. Using a grant from Earl Spencer, Dr. Low set up an agricultural museum in Edinburgh. Royal Academy artist Wm. Shiels was commissioned to produce a series of paintings of important breeds in Great Britain from which this work was produced. Size (in): 13 x 16.5
